Ye Olde King’s Head, Chester in March 2012

My recent trip to Chester turned out to be fun for several reasons. Here, I stick with the one reason: I discovered the Ye Olde King’s Head on Lower Bridge Street. A brief history of this establishment is found on myPUBGUIDE. However, it is its haunting aspects that interests us.

It is said to be the most haunted public house in Chester. You might want to stay there. The landlord (Harry) gave me a private guided tour. He informed me that the inn boasts at least thirteen ghosts. He has even set-up The Resting Place to offer paranormal experience to his customers both in the King’s Head itself and at other venues.

Harking back to the Ye Olde Kings Head and my conversation with the landlord, the first ghost I heard about has been seen in the pub and the lounge. He is known as Mr Richardson. He happens to dislike the man (another ghost) in the cellar, who did unspeakable acts to his daughter. The chap in the cellar is often seen standing behind the living.

Function Room and Kitchen

Once up the stairs, you face the function room. There is ghost there too, possibly a chef. He terrorises currents chefs: knives have been thrown, pots spin, chefs are maimed, and freshly mopped floors are imprinted with footsprints. One can see the function room in the image (above), the photograph with the uncarpeted floor.

Apparitions have been seen in the fireplace next to the function room. A man with shotgun and orbs have also been seen too.

Bedrooms and the hallway make up the rest of the photographs. So, let’s run through the ghosts:

Landing

There is a boy and girl on the landing. The boy is blind and has a dog (most probably not a guide dog). He is scared of his father, who occupies Room 6. Residents complain of children running up and down.

Room 6

This particular ghostly man shares a striking resemblance to Rubeus Hagrid. He threw his wife through the window. He gets in one’s face with his messages in the mirror, the shadows, and the orbs.

Room 5

This room is also associated with Peter, the boy from the landing. Previous visitors have complained of sore legs from having slept in the room.

Room 4

A lady has been reported to look out of the window.

Room 3

The covers are removed from the bed while sleeping. An entity knocks on the door. Also, a face has been seen coming out of the head board.

Room 2

There are knocks on the door and orbs.

Room 1

There are shadows of a tall skinny man and orbs. He does not like the room being occupied by the living.

Room 8

A bible was thrown at a cleaner.
